Can Drone Footage Support an Insurance Claim?
How high-resolution drone imagery works as evidence for household insurers — and what to check before you file.
Most household insurers accept dated high-resolution imagery and a written roofer's report as supporting evidence for storm and impact damage claims. The evidence needs to be clear, dated and independent.
Ask your insurer up front what they need. Some prefer a specific report format; others accept a written summary plus imagery.
A drone survey captures every square metre of the roof, including areas that aren't visible from the ground or from a ladder. Post-storm imagery clearly shows lifted or missing tiles, dislodged ridges and impact damage.
We supply timestamped imagery, an annotated report identifying every defect, and an itemised quote for the repair — the three pieces most insurers expect. The rest of the claim (excess, negotiation, timeline) is between you and your insurer.
If you're mid-claim and unsure what to send, call us — a short drone survey and report usually resolves the paperwork quickly.
