What Roofing Guarantees Should I Expect?
The three types of roofing guarantee — and what a reputable contractor should give you in writing.
There are three overlapping guarantees on any well-managed roofing job: workmanship guarantee (from the contractor), manufacturer product warranty (on materials), and any applicable insurance-backed guarantee.
A workmanship guarantee should be in writing, name the property, list the works, and state the duration. Verbal guarantees are worth what they cost.
Product warranties are supplied by the manufacturer — pass-through documentation should be included with your handover pack.
Always ask what the claim process is: who to contact, in what format, and what response you should expect.
