A roof inspection typically assesses the visible condition of the roof covering, ridges, valleys, flashing, chimneys, rooflights, drainage and other vulnerable junctions. Where appropriate, the loft may also be checked for water staining, ventilation problems or signs that help explain an external defect.

A thorough roof inspection has three parts: external assessment (from ground and drone), roof-void inspection from inside the loft, and a written report with photos.
External assessment covers the covering condition, ridges, valleys, chimneys, flashings and rooflines. Drone imagery captures areas that would otherwise need scaffold.
Roof-void inspection checks for daylight through the underlay, damp staining, timber movement, insulation condition and ventilation.
