How Long Does a Roof Repair Take?

Realistic timelines for common domestic repairs — from single slates to chimney rebuilds.

Small localised repairs — slipped or cracked slates, a missing ridge tile, a single lead flashing — are usually a same-day job for a two-person team, once we're on site.

Chimney repoint and re-flash sits in a 1–3 day window depending on scaffold and stack size. A full chimney rebuild typically takes 3–5 days.

Valley or lead-gutter replacement is 1–2 days per valley plus scaffold time.

Partial re-roof (single elevation) is usually a week including scaffold. Full re-roof on a standard semi is 1–2 weeks.

Emergency make-safe is hours, not days — we prioritise getting the roof watertight and schedule the permanent repair once the immediate risk is contained.

Weather affects everything. We won't work in wet or high-wind conditions where quality would suffer. Realistic dates go in your quote.
