Should I get a drone roof inspection?
A drone roof inspection can be particularly useful for high, steep or difficult-to-view roofs because it can capture detailed photographs without someone initially walking on the roof. It is most valuable for visible external defects and may need to be combined with physical or internal inspection where problems could be concealed.
Where a drone inspection helps
Aerial photography is useful where the roof is high, steep, fragile or otherwise awkward to reach, and where seeing the whole surface quickly matters more than touching it.
It also produces a photographic record, which is valuable for comparing condition over time or supporting a discussion with an insurer.
Where it is not the right tool
A drone survey is a visual assessment of what can be seen from above. It cannot confirm the condition of anything concealed beneath the covering, and some findings still need physical access to verify.
Weather and site conditions also affect whether a flight can take place safely and legally.
